Approaching to the valley of Castellbò by Castellciutat, Benavarre and Bellestar, from where we descend to the village of Aravell, we find the Road paved. It is an entertaining and quiet road, allowing us to arrive Castellbò in a short, famous for being shelter Cathars and scourge of inquisitors.
We left Castellbò by the new bridge -not the Romanesque-, to fetch the road leading to villages Cercèdol and Castellnovet. From here the ascent continues smoothly by the mythical forests (filled with mushrooms) of Plantat de Vilamitjana and offer good prospects of all the sunny side of the valley. We planned to Carmaniu lonely people. We spent over town to find the paved road, we will continue for a few meters. On the left is another track that goes with a certain forcefulness and makes us gain altitude. Above the Coll de Jou, we round the Roca Redona to move to the other side, above Pallerols Canto. Re-enter the shady to get to Coll de Pou. Very close to the hill there is a nice dolmen, with cover starting from lightning. Is not marked but it’s easy to find: from the same hill there is a trail to get wood, to be followed for a hundred meters. The next leg takes us to Coll de Leix. It takes very little to reach the Basseta, after a final rise. In the shelter, every effort has its rewards.
The decline we will partly follow the route of ascent, by Coll de Leix and Coll de Jou, where we will continue south to get to Vilamitjana. From here, down to the bottom of the valley to the main road and, without further complications, return to La Seu.
